Welcome back your dreams were your ticket.

I welcome back that same old place but those dreams have remained, and they turn around each other.

What's going on?

You're welcome back stretch.

Yeah that's a good stretch, so I am almost done the post radio show promo stuff.

I don't know what it is with me and Instagram.

Like I just I cannot it just doesn't work for me.

I don't understand.

Like I will do stuff and then it was just like not work, and I am just maybe because it's Android, I don't know, but neither here nor there, I am almost done with the post radio show promo stuff on did.

The email blast, I am posting to Instagram and I just got to post to Twitter the different accounts and should be good.

So I am almost there but For this break session.

I wanted to talk about some terrible news that it got this week and is just it's terrible especially for a type of stuff that I try to do, you know, I mean, like, it's just it's not great news and so let me share my screen here.

So as you may know, I am a big fan of creating projects and some of those projects I like to deploy to the internet and in for other people to check out I get domain names, right?

And the place that I was using to get domain names was Google domains because I have a like, a Gmail account, I have a Google account, it just was easier just to have everything in one place and What I found with other like and this is from before, like a while ago, maybe it's gotten better since, but I found with a lot of different domain providers that they would try to like, nickel and dime you and add things on like, hey, get this, get this.

If you want this thing, get this, you know saying like it's just it seemed terrible and then like the price would change is like well the first year it's this but then it's like three times more next year you know?

I mean like I just wanted something.

Where I can just get a domain name, purchase for whatever price.

I want that what I want but what I am like it's day I know is going to be that price, you're mean and get some extra stuff which is cool.

If I want to know, like, hard pitch or anything, like it's there if you want, and just something simple and clean.

And I can just like, add sub, domains just nice.

You don't mean, like, it's just, I don't need to like a CMS or whatever.

I just want the domain name.

You have me.

So All right, so I would go to Google domains, right?

And I would get a bunch of stuff.

Like a lot of my pride, like, I am like, 99% of my domain names are through Google domains, right?

I have a few before I even knew Google domains existed or even before it existed, I don't know, but it's only like a few other handful of those but most of them are here.

And, so I was seeing on Twitter from some folks about how like Squarespace Putting intent to purchase Google domain and it, and they link to articles and stuff.

I am like, all right, but then I from here, I never saw anything on the actual domains that Google website, right?

And, so I am scrolling kind of like it has to be here somewhere, right?

Look at it.

I got like a few dog dad's, you know?

I mean I think I got a few other stuff, neither internet.

Whatever.

I am going to keep moving.

And a lot of cool stuff here.

So I am looking, I am not seeing anything because you would think if you're shutting down the service, right?

And your intent to being purchased like, you would have it on the website somewhere, right?

So I am scrolling through, and so I am clicking different links, whatever.

So eventually I click the help center And then it says, then this is where I see, oh, about the Squarespace purchase of Google domains registrations.

All right, so I figured going talk about it here, right from the horse's mouth I guess as they say, right?

So click that.

All right, oops.

So then I have a little Banner at the top saying on June 15, 20 23, which was like three days ago.

So that was, what's that?

No, that's like a Thursday.

Yes.

A Thursday Squarespace announced its intent to purchase domain registrations and related customer accounts from Google.

Domains learn more here.

I think that goes to like the squares.

No, actually goes to Google support.

Let me open up that and see what that does.

They're just going to take me to know.

That just takes me to the same URL here.

Funny okay, never mind.

So about the Squarespace purchase of Google domain registrations.

We want you to be aware of important upcoming changes to your Google domains account and why put it in a random like help section put it like, I still don't understand why it's not on the homepage like front and, and centered and like big flashing lights or whatever.

I don't know, neither there on June 15, 20 23, Squarespace announced its intent to purchase domain registration.

And related customer accounts from Google domains.

So what is happening?

Okay, I guess is the question.

What is happening?

On June 15th, 2023, Google entered into a definitive agreement with Squarespace where they intend to purchase all domain registrations and related.

Customer accounts from Google domains.

You can read more about it about the announcement at their domains that squarespace.com.

So let me go and check that out.

All right, so important question, what does this mean for me as a customer?

There is no immediate impact on your Google domains account.

And there is nothing you need to do at this time.

Time once regulatory approvals are obtained and the transaction closes, you will be a customer of Squarespace and your domain will be owned and after a transition period managed by Squarespace and your domain.

Yeah, if applicable at the time of transition Associated, Google workspace.

See that's what I was wondering.

About workspace, services will be automatically managed by Squarespace subject to limited exceptions.

So I guess if you may fall into an exception in whatever, so they will Squarespace will contact.

You directly if any further action is required because One of the cool things.

Like I said, I am a like a Gmail user anyway, right?

And then sometimes you could get, if you purchase the domain through Google, then you'd be able to get your own at domain Gmail account.

Basically.

Right.

And there's other stuff like you get like storage and workspace.

Other cool stuff which is pretty dope, right?

So I am wondering see those are Google stuff.

Right?

So does Squarespace have like an email thing or would it still say with Gmail as far as like storage for like Google Drive stuff?

How does that work?

You know, I mean like I don't know what's going on there, so Here.

So what happens to my domain for customers who purchase a domain directly with Google?

Domains same thing.

So basically at this time, your domain will continue to be managed in your Google domains account.

As is the case today and bunch of other stuff.

And then, so after the purchase and says, we migrated over to Squarespace and then the DNS and who is settings and domain name.

Renewal, if you have a Google workspace subscription, build by Google domains a billion support services for your subscription Will be transitioned to Squarespace.

So you're going to Squarespace regardless and yeah, then they have terms of services with Squarespace.

And I talked about like if you purchase like through a Google workspace, sign up, flick.

I guess they have like resellers reselling, Google workspace and stuff.

So a lot of stuff I don't know.

All right.

So, will my domain stop working at any point, your domain name, registration, and DNS delegation will not be affected by the migration of squares, but should everything should still be running.

Once you are Squarespace customer, you will be able to manage additional Services as available through their Management.

Console thing is, I don't want more services, I just wanted the main name, so I can point stuff to my projects but okay, neither are there that we talk about the what happens to my Google workspace service, including G Suite which is the thing I was kind of talking about before or purchase through Google domains, and they said pretty much the same thing.

So it's currently built by Google.

Domains will be managed by Squarespace.

So it's going to be moved or Squarespace.

But as far as, Others have seen.

It doesn't tell me like, what would happen?

With like Gmail or Google Drive, you know I am saying like the Squarespace have email, I don't know, I am there you Squarespace, I don't know.

And then what do I need to do?

And what happens next?

So that again there's no action you need at this time due to so case and well, having my billing data and so all that stuff they're saying is going to be migrated to Squarespace through and their PCI Compliant payment processors.

So it's going to be like encrypted billing data, and all this other stuff.

And so what are my Alternatives?

If I don't want to transition Squarespace.

And so, this announcement does not change your ability to transfer your domain or domains to any other registrar.

At any time, you will continue to have the ability to move your domain, or domains to another register prior to such transfer or at any time thereafter.

If you wish to do this transfer work before transition, they can see a help article.

So now oh by the way, let me go post a link to this.

So, if you wanted to check it out for yourself, add a link to that bear.

All right, and so I figured why not take a look at Squarespace and see whether offering.

Okay, so scores when they so Squarespace the new home for Google domain customers.

Right?

And so your domains are in good hands, Squarespace is known as a leading domain registrar.

Okay?

I didn't know that.

So here's what you can expect.

When you join Squarespace a seamless transition, Squarespace in Google, are collaborating every step of the way to ensure the best possible.

Possible experience for customers.

During the transition, Squarespace will be utilizing Google's infrastructure.

Powering the Google domains product.

During the migration period in order to ensure the smooth transfer domains.

Okay, this is scary to me here, pricing continue continuity, Squarespace will honor all existing Google domain.

Customers renewal prices for the domains for at least 12 months.

After closing the acquisition ensuring that their domain hosting and management remains hassle-free.

So they're saying that the renewal prices will be the same for, at least 12 months, which means it could go up or go down.

I am about going down, but probably maybe go up, I don't know.

So Squarespace makes domain management simple.

Right.

And, so I guess this is kind of how it looks.

So this person's domain name online since this thing as a Celtic, that's enough.

Nothing will they will SSL certification or certificates.

Be free.

Or do I have to pay for that?

I don't know.

And then so primary domain advanced settings, access DNS.

So my whole thing is I was planning on doing a bunch of like different subdomains.

Now, with Google domains, that was pretty easy.

I want to risk going to be the same experience over at Squarespace again.

I don't know.

So, a square space.

We believe in form as fun, as well as function.

That's why our domain management tool allows you to do everything from editing, your DNS records 24, in your URL in a way that's both simple and beautiful.

Okay?

And then this, so you will get a Spam free holding page.

If you don't have a website or don't feel ready to build one, don't worry.

When your domain is registered with Squarespace, you can get a beautiful spam free holding page while you found allies your vision.

I just I don't meet don't want.

Okay, I don't know.

And then so yeah, long-term partnership.

So I guess the so Squarespace is longtime partner of Google workspace.

I guess they have been doing that before every year thousands of customers build their business online with a Squarespace website and professional email and collaboration tools from Google.

So does that mean that the email and the collaboration tools will still be through Google?

So many still handle that but as far as domains and hosting Or domains because they didn't do it like hosting, but domains will be through Squarespace.

I don't know.

So there are so many reasons we think you will enjoy calling Squarespace home.

Let us see.

Okay.

Okay.

So Alright.

So here with a square space domain free who is privacy is included for all eligible domains which is cool because I always turn that on because I recently purchased a domain name that ended with a thing that you couldn't get like the Privacy.

And I have been getting a bunch of emails and like calls, like just people asking, hey, you want free web design, hey free this, but I am like, oh my God, it's terrible.

I totally forgot about how horrible that thing is, Okay and so here we go.

So Squarespace domain users will receive a free SSL certificate so your visitors know.

Your site is secure so that's good.

You have a freeze SSL certificate cool.

Okay, that same form thing there.

They talked about building websites which again I don't really need.

Okay.

All right, so let us see pricing real quick.

So, let us see.

What would that we have got here?

Find one now, So let us go with, I don't know.

So on Google domains, right?

I am going to go back to the domains at Google.

Select all.

Okay.

So domains are Google.

Let us look up like a price or something to see if they're comparable.

Right.

But baba, baba death.

Okay so let us see.

If that's taken out of the random.

Okay, so twelve dollars a year, right?

So this is how would be like, bam.

Here you go, you're good to go.

And give you like, advantages and considerations and you can check out other ones that have the same thing or whatever.

Right?

Cool.

So, twelve dollars a month, right?

Let us see what that would be.

And, Okay, here we go.

I came in here.

All right, so search for your domain name.

See this, this is this.

I don't know.

You're fine.

All right, so let us do that.

Damn.

Holy crap.

So it's 30 dollars a year here.

Oh wow.

Wow.

Wow.

So wow.

So $12 here.

$30 here.

Oh, that's not good.

So now, I am going to make some plans or something.

This is okay.

And then, the terrible thing is that to transfer your domain.

A lot of times you have to like, pay, I guess so.

Like even though I bought it and have like a year left like in order to transfer it I think I have to buy like another year whatever the new place.

So yeah.

But yeah, so that's just, that's terrible.

That's so yeah.

So $12 here but for whatever reason Square $30.

Oh, that's awesome.

Okay, so I don't know, I have some stuff I need to think about.

So we get you all back to work because this is horrifying to me right now.

Imagine how, like, like two times more than two times and I own a lot of domains and so maybe, you know what, maybe this would be a good time to like, The domains I haven't been using, let us get rid of them.

You mean, and just let him just go away and of the ones I actually use because I don't think I can like, no, because you see it was like 12.

I can't.

No, so no, that's terrible.

Okay.

I will get you all back to work because I have got things to think about, and I am gonna send you off with some traveling music.

And this is let me share the screen.

Wow.

That's not good.

Okay, so now I know like, so anybody have any ideas of any?

Are you looking?

Let me know.

I am open to some suggestions, please.

Thank you please.

And thank you.

All right, so this is Anthony Cruz.

AKA butter.

The track is called.

Thank you.

Thanks again for hanging out.

So you 15 minutes after hour till then I wish you much productivity.

All right, y'all be easy and peace.
